Solar Panels For Your Home
People have been using solar panels to generate free energy for their homes for many years now. To most of us the idea of using solar panels for our homes is still quite new but the reality is that they have been around for years.
There have been significant improvements and developments in solar energy technology over this time but the principles remain much the same. There are two types of solar panels for your home and you can either generate electricity for free or get solar heat energy for free.
The simple option is to use solar collectors to collect the suns heat energy and transfer it to heat your home or hot water system. The other type of solar panels for your home are the photovoltaic solar cell panels which absorb the sunlight and convert that energy into electricity using very special solar panels made up of multiple solar cells.
If you decide on the first type you can make solar panels at home using various different materials. Some people make a solar collector using a heating radiator as the energy absorber and pumping water through the radiator to heat their hot water system with a heat exchanger. You can use pipes and reflectors to collect more heat from the sun and various designs have been tried.
The second type of solar panels for your home are the photovoltaic solar cell panels which are not possible to make at home but you can buy them ready to install on your roof. Connecting the wiring is not a task for the amateur and you should get a qualified electrical engineer who understands solar energy generation to make the electrical connections.
Once the solar panels for your home have been installed they will continue to produce free energy for many years and generally require little in the way of maintenance. You might consider it worthwhile to have them checked regularly for any faults but most solar systems are very reliable and continue to save on energy bills for many years without problems.
