Solar Energy: Whats It All About?

by Lucille Green

Photovoltaic cells, shaped as black colored square pieces placed in an on a solar panel, are becoming more efficient with each passing day and their designs are getting more efficient at focusing sunlight in concentrated forms with the cost becoming less as well. The size of the cells is decreasing as their efficiency rises, meaning that each cell becomes cheaper to produce and at once more productive. 00 at the time of this writing. If you consider the cost about 17 years ago when it was nearly double this is an improvement.

There's definite benefit in using electricity generated from the sun for the environment. Solar energy uses the most natural of sources for its production: the sun which releases no harmful emissions into the environment and is considered to be an excellent alternative source of energy. Solar cells are today very popular fixtures on people's home rooftops. They are uncomplicated devices to use for heating air and water within your home or to generate electricity. There it gets heated and is then supplied inside the home through pipes.

It is now possible to accumulate radiation from the sun even if the sky is overcast or stormy. You can collect solar radiation even in stormy and overcast weather with the photovoltaic cells that are available today. It manages this by designing the solar cells to absorb and store more energy on bright sunlit days so that this can be used when the weather is not favorable.

The PV system is another kind of solar power system. A connection is made of the PV system to the nearest grid of electricity and when a particular home produces more energy using the solar cell, this excess energy is sent off to the grid so now the grid will use this energy for electricity production.

The best benefits of using PV systems are that you are getting solar power inexpensively, you are using a source of energy that is in accordance with the environment and you are freeing up the pressure on the grid. Some areas are designing centralized solar collection arrays for small towns or suburban communities.

Several reputed corporations have indicated their deep interest into solar energy production on a large scale and this clearly shows how the world is accepting solar power as a sustainable source of energy. Google has already installed a 1.6 MW solar power generation plant on the roof of its headquarters while Wal-Mart will soon outdo this by installing a 100 MW solar power system of its own.

The subsidies and tax benefits provided by the governments of US, Japan, Germany and Switzerland among other countries to people or to corporate entities that install and use solar power plants for their purposes are helping to further popularize this concept. By checking out the new inventions in the solar trapping technology, new investors will want to cash in on the technology and make profits with it and this will only bring in more popularity to solar power generation.

Just What Is Solar Power?

by Paul Smithfield Summer Caldwell

The term going green is a very popular word used in our society today. When you read articles in a magazine or newspaper or watch news programs with scientific experts reporting on the destruction of our earth. It is not surprising to find out we are the main reason for the problem due to excessive use of energy sources that are harmful to the environment. You will want to learn everything you can on going green and using solar energy to prevent future destruction to the earth.

Solar power or the natural suns power has been used for many generations to dry laundry, grow and harvest food and as a light in the darkness. In this fast paced world we live in today, many have questioned if solar power is still practical for our everyday uses.

Yes, we must insist on finding ways to improve solar power engineering. But first, you have to know the facts on solar power, there are a lot of different studies being conducted you will not want to be mistaken.

Approximately only 1% of all available sun power is being used for solar power. That number will definitely increase as the demand for funding will increase to have more engineers discover more uses on solar power. For all the latest news updates on solar power look for American Solar Energy Society.

It can be very challenging trying to get the natural sunlight rays into your battery charger. To convert sunlight into usable energy to power a battery you may need a different type of energy. Using electricity or hydrogen power will produce faster results.

Using new technology many small gadgets have solar cells inside to operate every day items such as watches and calculators. When running a house on solar energy, you will have to be prepared for more solar power usage and have solar panels installed. One type of solar panel is made of silicon a neutrally charged element that stores energy and other materials needed to produce positive and negative charges.

In order for power to flow through your homes electrical wires, you will need positive and negative charges. Converting small amounts of solar energy requires large solar panels, which could create a problem.

Scientists are working hard to invent smaller and faster more energy efficient solar panels. Technology has advanced so fast with the computers. Owning a lap top computer seemed impossible 30 years ago. The invention of silicon has made it possible for computers to be manufactured smaller and faster unlike the old main frame computers of the past that would take up the entire office building space.

In 2007, East Amwell, New Jersey resident Mike Strizki converted his 3500 foot home entirely to solar and hydrogen power. He shows that hope for the future is about solar power.
