Natural Resources – Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is the energy produced from fully natural resources. They are replenished naturally so we don't have to worry about them running out. They are an ideal solution to our current energy crisis.

Biomass: Biomass energy is completely organic, produced from natural materials like wood, animal manure and even garbage. More trees and plants can always be grown so this is a good source of reliable energy. An example would be when we burn wood in a fireplace, the burned wood releases heat that warms our homes.

Hydropower: The energy produced from water is known as hydropower, sometimes called hydroelectric. Strong currents in water produce the electricity so the swifter the current the more that is produced. People have used hydropower for a long time, dating back to times when it was used to turn wheels to help grind grains for flour and cornmeal production.

Geothermal: Geothermal energy is the energy generated by the radioactive decay in the Earth's core. This is a continuous process there for it is consider a renewable energy source. Some people use this energy to heat their homes by digging deep in to the Earth to capture pools of warm water heated by this energy then pump them through their homes.

Wind: Wind power is a more common type of renewable energy. Most states have wind turbines set up to harness this great source. Wind is produced when the Earth is heated in different degrees by the sun. Blades turn turbines which are connected to electricity generators.

More energy sources are out there to be used, we just have to figure out how to use them. Some people have dedicated their lives to this pursuit and new ideas are introduced every day. The recent initiative to find alternative energy sources has pushed the popularity of this issue in recent years.
